Getting Started with Recovery Support
You Don't Have to Go It Alone
Reaching out is the hardest step. Recovery programs are confidential and judgment-free. A counselor or peer support specialist can help you figure out the right next steps – you do not need to have everything figured out before you call.
Know Your Options
Programs range from outpatient counseling and peer support groups to residential treatment and medically supervised detox. Different pathways work for different people. Ask about all available options when you make first contact with an organization.
Insurance & Cost
Many programs accept Medicaid and offer sliding-scale fees based on income. Do not let cost stop you from reaching out – most organizations will work with you to find a payment solution. If you need Medicaid, see our Medicaid guide.
